Overview — What is Ledger Live®?

Ledger Live® is the official software companion to Ledger® hardware wallets that lets you manage cryptocurrency accounts, check balances, send and receive tokens, and install blockchain apps onto your device. Available as Ledger Live Desktop for Windows/macOS/Linux and Ledger Live App for iOS/Android, it is the bridge between your hardware wallet and the blockchain.

Download & Install

Always obtain Ledger Live® from official sources. For desktop, download the installer matching your operating system; for mobile, use the Apple App Store or Google Play. After installation, connect your Ledger® device via USB (or Bluetooth for supported models) and follow the on-screen pairing prompts inside Ledger Live®.

Login, Security & Account Access

Ledger Live® may ask for a local app password for convenience, but your crypto is secured by your Ledger® device PIN and recovery phrase. There is no cloud backup of private keys — losing the recovery phrase means permanent loss of access to funds. Never share your recovery phrase with anyone, including supposed "support" representatives.

Troubleshooting — Login & Connection Problems

Common problems often have simple fixes:

  • Ledger Login not working / Unable to login: Ensure Ledger Live® is updated, the device is unlocked with correct PIN, and device prompts are approved.
  • Error Connecting Ledger Account: Swap to a different USB cable/port, disable interfering antivirus or VPN, and update device firmware.
  • Ledger Live App not Working / Can't verify Ledger Wallet: Reinstall the mobile app, clear app data if safe, and confirm you used the official store link.
  • Ledger 2FA reset: Ledger® hardware does not manage third-party 2FA. If you used 2FA with an exchange, reset that service directly. For device access issues, recovery is only via your seed phrase.

Account Recovery & When to Contact Support

Recover accounts using your recovery phrase on a new Ledger® device or compatible recovery tool. Contact the Ledger® Help Center only when you suspect hardware tampering, unauthorized transactions, or you cannot recover with your seed. Never reveal your recovery phrase to anyone claiming to help — legitimate support will never ask for it.
